Millwright (2 positions)
Under the direction of the Maintenance Leader or designate, the Millwright is responsible for performing skilled mechanical and maintenance work on a wide range of school shop equipment and facility systems. The Millwright will be assigned a home base but will be required to perform their duties any site across the school board as assigned based on operational need. Duties include repairs, preventative maintenance, fabrication, inspections, and equipment relocations across various school-based technical and specialty facilities. The incumbent conducts the duties of an Industrial Mechanic Millwright in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and Board standards to protect against injury, facility damage, and school day losses.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Ontario College of Trades Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) Program (or Provincial/Territorial equivalent with Red Seal Endorsement (RSE))
Certified and Registered Trades Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) as recognized by the Ontario College of Trades (or Provincial/Territorial equivalent with Red Seal Endorsement (RSE))
Four and one half (4-1/2), related work experience in a commercial, industrial or institutional setting is required
Experience with CNC applications (considered an asset)
Proficiency in reading and applying mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturers’ literature
Demonstrated knowledge of fabrication techniques, including stick, MIG, and oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, as well as metal forming, machining operations, and use of conventional milling, turning, and grinding machines
Knowledge of electrical control circuits with the ability to troubleshoot and correct basic control issues related to equipment in school technical shops
Familiarity with equipment used in machine shops, carpentry/woodworking/construction shops, automotive shops, fabrication shops, horticulture, and hospitality facilities
Understanding of rigging, hoisting, and moving equipment safely, particularly equipment commonly found in schools
Ability to produce components using raw materials such as metal, wood, and synthetics
Basic computer skills
Willingness to participate in board-provided training courses to obtain and maintain certifications required for equipment inspections. This includes the ability to travel to the U.S.A as required for training covered by the board.
Valid Class “G” driver’s license with a clear driving record (Board vehicle provided)
