Full job description
Tremcar Inc. London Division is seeking a Tack Welder for the day shift at our facility located at 2060 Oxford Street East, London, Ontario. We are looking to recruit a competent Tack Welder to support the activities of our welding team. The welder helper will ensure an organized work environment, and adequate maintenance of equipment and materials. Candidates will be patient and organized, and able to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Hours of Operation: Day Shift (Mon.-Thu. 7:00 am-4:30 pm, Fri. 7:00am-3:15 pm) with occasional overtime. Weekends and statutory holidays off.
Responsibilities and Skills:
- Tack welding aluminum components together using TIG and MIG welding.
- Grinding and smoothing welded surfaces using power tools, following safety guidelines.
- Assisting welders to set up tanks in jig and move them between work areas.
- Act as spotter when welders are working inside tanks, comfortable working at heights.
- Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints and schematics.
- Loading and unloading trucks using a forklift and crane, and general clean-up.
- Keep the work area clean and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Physically strong and agile, able to lift loads up to 50 lbs. without self-injury.
- Good work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- 1 year prior work experience in a similar role is mandatory.
- Must have own welding mask and welding hand tools.
