Key Job Elements

  • Create detailed planning reports to ensure Production Departments meet or exceed master schedule
  • Proactively identify critical shortages to internal customers to limit impacts to the schedule and assist in creating mitigation plans
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain concerning purchase items with impact to the MPS or Production Plan
  • Release and review work orders to meet production plans ensuring adequate material quantities are available
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams the break-in points of engineering and manufacturing changes
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through reporting and monitoring across multiple facilities

Required Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in Materials & Operations Management or Business
  • 1 to 2 years previous make planning experience
  • MRP experience
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, to multi-task, and take initiative, when required
  • Demonstrated high level of communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Oracle
  • APICS certification or working towards it

  • Nature of Supervision: Medium (Some Self-directed work)
  • Work Interruptions and Distractions: Minimal to medium
  • Physical Environment: manufacturing/shop floor, some office

Physical Conditions and Hazards:

Production shop floor support employees are responsible for maintaining support for touch labour and as such may spend a significant time in the production environment. Production shop floor support employees may be exposed to loud noise, dust, weld fume, paint and extreme temperatures. Production shop floor support employees may also assist the touch labour with the movement parts equipment as requested, this may include light lifting. In addition, Production shop floor support employees may be required to complete various administrative tasks depending on the job function. Computer based desk work is also required throughout the day. Production shop floor support employees may be required to work shift work which may include rotation between day, afternoon, and night shifts. Additionally, overtime may be required on an as needed basis and may include weekend work.

Physical Demands Description: This section objectively captures and describes the physical demands that are required to perform a particular job or role. Usually completed by the ergonomist. Usual mobility demands required are standing, walking, sitting, and stair climbing to access upper offices and process work envelopes some stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and crouching may be required at times while assisting workers or accessing low placed items.

Equipment Utilized: This section describes the type of equipment an employee is required to use: Computer, Mobile device, Telephone.

Medical Surveillance May include: Inoculations, Respiratory Fit, Audiometric Testing, Designated Substance Surveillance, Vision, Anthropometrical Size Restrictions depending on task.

Personal Protective Equipment: Applicable when interacting with shop floor (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection. extraction coveralls)

The Make Planner, Analyst opening is a current vacant position at General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada (GDLS-C). The base salary hiring range for this position is $56,000 to $70,000 per year. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including relevant experience, technical and non-technical skills, and education and certifications. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health and dental benefits, employee profit-sharing, retirement savings, and more.
