Summary of Duties:

Reports to the Supervisor, Facilities Operations, the Facilities Systems Tradesperson is responsible for the effective and efficient operation, repair and maintenance of various city facilities including the ability to integrate legacy and new equipment.  Provides information and recommendations to the Supervisor or Manager to support efficiencies and divisional service delivery model plans.  Liaises with contractors in the completion of their work.

Work Performed:

  • ????Establishes and maintains facility equipment, related routines and is responsible for the corrective operation, inspection, diagnosis, repairs and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and other building services and equipment in municipally owned and leased facilities.
  • Prioritizes work in order of urgency that has been assigned by the supervisor. 
  • Evaluates operational performances and recommends changes to systems, procedures and methodologies to maximize use of resources.
  • Undertakes special assignments as assigned.
  • Liaises with contractors to communicate problems and to ensure resolution to concerns.
  • Investigates complaints, resolves problems, and maintains good public relations.  Escalates issues to the Supervisor, as required.
  • Works collaboratively with team members and assists other trades in completion of their duties, as required.
  • Works outside regular working hours, including rotational stand by, emergency call-ins, and shift work.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Completion of an apprenticeship program and a holds a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Plumber, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, Electrician (Construction and Maintenance), or educational equivalent.

Experience:

Four years of related experience is required.

Specialized Training & Licenses:

Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary: 

A Gas Technician 2 Licence held additional to another Certificate of Qualification administered by the  Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development with the ability to obtain certification as a Gas Technician 1 (TSSA) is an asset. 

Required to maintain current Certificate of Qualifications and/or Licences.

Valid Driver's Licence-Class G.

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work within all Health and Safety regulations and required legislation.

NOTE:  Required to work various hours on emergency and scheduled repairs.

Compensation & Other Information:

$60,408 - $87,775 (Level 14)

This posting is for one (1) temporary full-time up to 2 years position.

Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Work Arrangement: On-site. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.

These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.

NOTE: Applicants may be required to complete a job related test.
