Position Summary:
The Intermediate accountant will provide the necessary input for month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and support for internal and external reporting. The Intermediate Accountant will also be responsible for account reconciliation and act as the ESSO and BoA administrator. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to support the overall financial operations of the organization.
What Will You Do:
- Lead Cycle Count Meeting with Operation Team.
- Performs other duties as requested or directed.
- Lead fixed asset reconciliation
- Responsible for Statistical Canada’s Reports
- Prepare and update Journal entries for month-end.
- Lead the month-end accrual process
- Support for updating the CIP tracker.
- Support for Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Maintain proper documentation and backup for audit purposes.
- Support in the HFM load month-end process
- Act as the BoA and ESSO administrator for the entire organization
- Perform reconciliations between BoA and Chrome River
- Provide support for other accounting and finance projects as assigned
- Participate in meetings, providing input and recommendations
- Provide for the system and process enhancements to generate accurate accounting information
What Will You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field with financial emphasis required
- Professional Accounting Designation preferred but not required
- 2-3 years of post-degree finance & accounting experience
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, internal audit and budgeting principles including Canadian and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Proven accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
- Strong problem-identification and problem resolutions skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Accuracy and attention to detail are a must
- Positive attitude and strong work ethics
- Ability to prioritize and work without supervision
- Effective Team Player
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer applications, with above-average Excel skills
