Demand and Production Planner
About the job
To accurately forecast product demand and translate that into an optimized manufacturing, resource and material plan.
Responsibilities Include:
Demand Planning
- Establish Master Production Plan based on sales forecast to optimize manufacturing by level loading resources and production schedule
- Estimate future product demand through development of forecast models
- Conduct monthly forecast maintenance and revise ERP as required
- Successfully communicate forecast and inventory estimations to management
- Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner, through production planning and communication of device availability dates
- Create and maintain KPI and demand level dashboards
- Liaison with Business Development, Product Managers and other product owners on demand trends and predictions
Production Planning
- Ensure weekly production schedules align with Master Production Plan
- Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and assisting to solve production issues
- Assist with production planning impacted by change management
- Act as backup for production planner as required
- Assist with manufacturing order material and labour variances
Bill of Materials
- Set up and monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) in collaboration with product managers and manufacturing
- Create and Maintain BOM routing in ERP
- Ensure proper part coding, BOM structure and routings
- Maintain and update master files [items, etc.] including new item setup
- Provide effectivity dates on materials in BOMs and devices
Change Management
- Set and monitor in/out dates of materials in transition
- Advise procurement of changes to plans
- Manage BOM changes because of the material transition
- Manage MRP setups for materials based on changes to product demands
- Monitor and address obsolete inventory
Materials Planning
- Create and monitor supplier material forecasts
- Create weekly items to purchase accounting for changes based on demand analysis and change management
- Plan for New Product Introduction (NPI), considering materials and manufacturing time
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering or a related field of study
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing, including 3 years in planning or scheduling
- Experience in high volume manufacturing. Experience with ISO 13485 considered an asset.
- Computer literate with:
- Expertise in enterprise ERP systems. Experience in MS Dynamics 365 considered an asset.
- Able to perform data analytics using MS Excel, PowerBI or other data software
- Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and supply chain software
- Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-Starter, curious, independent worker
- Outstanding planning and organizational skills
