Key Job Elements:

Proposals:

  • Assist with bid and proposal activities by facilitating internal authorizations
  • Assist with compilation of business volumes for responses to proposals
  • Research and liaise with stakeholders to ensure review of terms and conditions and propose modifications to terms that mitigate company risk
  • Support pre-award activities to ensure that valid proposals are submitted to customers

Contract Execution Support:

  • Lead in the tracking and resolution of contracting issues arising during contract performance
  • Track, draft and respond to formal customer correspondence on contractual matters
  • Review contract documentation (including deliverables, changes, and deviations) for accuracy and completeness and provide feedback to internal teams as required
  • With the assistance of the Area Manager, provide contractual interpretation to internal teams to ensure accurate assessment of contractual obligations and performance in accordance with the contract requirements
  • With the assistance of the Area Manager, identify potential contractual risks and ability to advise on risk mitigation for internal teams
  • Draft, negotiate and maintain Inter/Intra-company Support Agreements (ISA)
  • Review contract modifications/amendments and tasks for consistency with negotiated agreements and recommend acceptance or changes as required.
  • Act as formal company interface to various customer representatives on assigned contracts and proposals
  • Prepare presentation material to support program at customer and internal group meetings and deliver presentations, as required

Business Support:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to functional departments on contracting regulations and company procedures
  • Exercise a mindset of continuous process improvements and efficiencies
  • Conduct work with focus to meet compliance requirements (ITAR/EAR/FCPA/GP/SOX, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma (Law or Business degree preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant or transferrable experience
  • Demonstrated strength in managing relationships at all levels of an organization, both internal and external
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills
  • Able to manage workload with changing priorities
  • Experience in MS Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, thorough, and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and effective in a multi-disciplinary team, including to facilitate discussions
  • Ability to travel and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in formal document review and preparation
  • Previous experience working with government contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Familiarity with Canadian and US contracting regulations
  • Defense industry experience or military background

The Contracts Specialist opening is a current vacant position at General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada. The base salary hiring range for this position is $67,200 to $84,000 per year. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health benefits, employee profit-sharing, retirement savings, and more.
