Position: Student, Environmental
Key Job Elements:
• Develop and review environmental related training material for both salaried and hourly positions.
• Review the company’s environmental program for improvements including developing and updating environmental procedures.
• Assist with Change Management risk assessments with respect to potential environmental impacts.
• Provide support to Facility Engineering project managers for all site projects with environmental impacts including working with contractors.
• Assist with information gathering regarding EHS operations in order to support regulatory compliance reporting and other external requests.
• Inspect the site for environmental compliances and report out to stakeholders.
• Support Internal & External Environmental / EHS audits
• Work with cross-functional groups (Facility Engineering and Maintenance) to maintain monitoring programs and environmental management. Determine areas of improvement to lessen environmental wastes and impacts.
• Shadow site personnel responsible for significant environmental aspects to document formal standard operating procedures.
• Assist with the organization of wastes including classifications and inventory for waste pick ups.
• Support EHS administration processes and any other duties are performed under the guidance and direction of the Supervisor/Manager.
• Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed minimum 2 years of a University degree or College Diploma in an Environmental Engineering/Technology discipline.
- Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications.
- Experience with project management and managing contractors is beneficial.
- Knowledge and Skills: The incumbent must have basic knowledge of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, ISO 14001:2015 standard and must be familiar with relevant environmental regulations, standards and guidelines.
- Knowledge and Skills: The incumbent must have basic knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
