Key Job Elements
- Support a 3-shift operation
- Supervise skilled trades
- Organize jobs for shift start and ensure employees adhere to safety regulations
- Prepare daily reports and track progress including implementation of new technologies
- Ensure problems are properly documented, jobs are reviewed and area is clean before operating equipment
- Work within budgets and maintain accurate employee records
- Communicate with Production on breakdowns/status/equipment availability
- Maintain equipment uptime and follow-up on all requests
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area for group
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems on machinery and equipment
- Significant overtime and weekend work is involved
- Supervisory duties such as payroll/attendance
Required Qualifications
- College Diploma and/or apprentice and license in Machine Repair or Electrician
- Minimum 5-7 years experience working in a unionized shop environment
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Excellent communication (written, oral and listening) and analytical skills
- Strong organizational/administrative skills, including being a self-starter
- Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
- Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space
- Ability to work steady Midnight shift and ability to works shiftwork as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Skilled trades supervision experience
- Experience in MAXIMO
- 8 years shop floor work experience

The Skillded Trades Supervisor opening is a current vacant position at General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada. The base salary hiring range for this position is $84,800 to $106,000 per year. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health benefits, employee profit-sharing, retirement savings, and more.
