Area Manager, Consolidation and AccountingKEY JOB ELEMENTS: 
  • Manage the Consolidations and Accounting team including co-ordination of work and delivery of quarterly performance reviews
  • Provide leadership, guidance, support, training and coaching for career growth opportunities to the team
  • Lead the month-end close and consolidation in a multi-currency environment for several sets of books
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules and analysis to support the consolidated financial statements and internal reporting
  • Provide technical guidance and resolution for Balance Sheet and Income Statements variance analysis
  • Prepare financial review packages and present to senior leadership
  • Provide technical guidance to Finance department with regards to month-end processes
  • Oversee foreign currency risk, hedges, and reporting of exchange gains/losses
  • Provide accounting direction on property and casualty insurance, interdivisional transactions, inventory, pensions, payroll and leases
  • Operate within an appropriate control framework including internal controls over financial reporting consistent with internal control policies and procedures
  • Work with external auditors as part of quarterly and year audits ensuring quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Lead legal entity and branch statutory audits of financial statements for foreign locations
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Professional Accounting Designation
  • University Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or Finance
  • 7 years or more of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with an attention to detail
  • Demonstrates professional judgement, analytical capabilities and organizational skills
  • Understanding of and experience working with US GAAP
  • High skill level with Microsoft Office applications (strong focus on Excel)
  • Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 5 years or more of financial industry experience
  • Knowledge of GDLS practices and procedures
  • Supervisory experience
  • Audit experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and Other Enterprise Systems
