Overview of the Role

As a member of the plant operations leadership team, the HACCP Coordinator is based in St. Marys ON and reports to the QC Manager. The Coordinator provides leadership, knowledge transfer and execution of best practices and documentation related to the GMP and HACCP Programs including leading the HACCP team and coordinating activities required to implement, update and maintain the GMP and HACCP Programs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm)

Salary: $60,530 to $79,390 annually

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Develop procedures and protocols to ensure HACCP structure is in place, updated and maintained; monitor for compliance to policies and procedures

  • Develop, and coordinate necessary employee and contractor training programs

  • Investigate and resolve quality deviations and customer complaints; report and communicate findings

  • Participate or Conduct Plant Incident Investigation and Reporting and Initiating/implementing corrective measures

  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits of the GMP and HACCP Programs for the plant, the Quality Assurance and Food Safety procedures as well as related activities in the plant; develop and implement corrective actions based on results of the audit

  • Ensure timely closure of corrective actions

  • Coordinate and Participate in internal audits to maintain required standards (internal BRC audits)

  • Lead/participate in regulatory, customer, CFIA and other 3rd party audits and inspections; implement appropriate changes; provide advice on problem resolution with regulatory customer and 3rd party audits and inspections

  • Coordinate and complete Food Safety activities including program risk assessments, validations and conducting risk assessments for any temporary or permanent changes to programs or systems

  • Participate in Plant Mock Recalls as part of the mock recall team.

  • Ensure complete and accurate records related to all GMP and HACCP activities are maintained including documentation of amendments to the Programs

  • Lead the Joint Food Safety Committee and HACCP committee meetings, discussions and actions

  • Complete annual HACCP re-assessments and program validations

  • Monitor effectiveness of CCPs and our written programs

  • Organize document retention and storage

  • Other activities as required

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience with HACCP systems and related programs such as GMPs and/or Quality Assurance in food manufacturing

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Ambitious, takes initiative, and resourceful

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends at short notice.

  • Experience preparing and coordinating plant audits and inspections

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Excellent attention to detail along with strong analytical and decision-making skills

  • Ability to multi-task with competing priorities and deadlines

  • Post-secondary training in Food Science, Microbiology or related field is an asset; an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
