Summary of Duties:
Reports to the Manager II, Maintenance Operations or designate and under the direction of the Division Manager IV, Sewer and Water Operations. Coordinates and carries out all of the office inspection and acceptance related functions to support the role of inspectors and management.
Work Performed:
- Coordinates an inspection and acceptance system for water installations.
- Attends on site for field verification in the assumption process and reports on construction activities and compliance as necessary.
- Manages the development of the Water Meter Management Program and Customer Information System.
- Provides guidance, training and direction to reporting staff.
- Provides assistance and advice on the interpretation and application of the City of London Waterworks policies, standards, methods and procedures to consultants, developers and contractors.
- Suggests new or recommends amendments to existing waterworks technical policies, standards and procedures as required to the Manager III, Sewer and Water Operations.
- Attends meetings on behalf of the Manager II, Maintenance Operations or designate.
- Investigates and reports on complaints and inquiries.
- Compiles waterworks operations and waterworks supply statistics for annual, quarterly and monthly reports utilizing computer software.
- Acts as a resource to other related Divisions/consultants in the interpretation of statistics.
- Enters data into various Infrastructure Maintenance/Management Systems (WIMS).
- Ensures that the Waterworks Maintenance and Operations Manual is current.
- Liaises with Building Division and Technical Services Division to ensure current records of proposed waterworks are kept on file.
- Receives "As Built" and inspection information from waterworks inspectors and ensures that Technical Services receives accurate As-Built information.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Three year Community College Civil Engineering Diploma.
Experience:
Four to five years' related experience
Specialized Training & Licenses:
Skills and abilities in the following areas are necessary:
- MOE Sewer and Water Main Construction Inspection Certificate.
- Valid Driver's Licence - Class G.
- Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and various software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Meter Department Operations, water main construction, specifications and water main system operations, City of London Standard Construction Documents, OBC, Waterworks Operational Manual, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Utilities Act, AWWA Standards, City Water Design Standards and City Water Distribution Reference and Operations Guide
Compensation & Other Information:
$60,408 - $87,775 (Level 14)
This posting is for one (1) permanent full-time position.
Current hours of Work: Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Work Arrangement: In Office. Subject to change in accordance with business requirements.
These hours of work are subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement and may include evening hours and Saturdays.
