We’re actively searching for our next team member for the position of:
BUYER
Purchase raw materials, components, products, and services as required for TMI and affiliated companies in a cost effective and efficient manner. Assist with contractual negotiations and agreements with suppliers.
Responsibilities Include
Contract Negotiation, Establishment and Implementation
- Ensure products and materials are sourced at the best value while utilizing best practices
- Ensure that all purchase orders are processed efficiently and effectively
- Manage all aspects of mold approval and progress all activities according to schedule
- Ensure conformance to all pertinent documentation and procedures
- Ensure all purchase orders are coded properly
- Communicate with suppliers on all business and technical matters
- Ensure systems of supplier communication are in place and functioning
- Assist in supplier performance measurement systems and feedback
- Ensure that supplier and part files are maintained with accurate and appropriate information
- Ensure that any cost reduction opportunities that are justified are implemented
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of variance analysis for component costs when appropriate
- Ensure purchasing procedures are effective, efficient, and documented.
- Maintain approved supplier file in enterprise resource planning (ERP) database
- Maintain job related standard operating procedures and ERP Scripts
- Maintain relevant databases such as: asset, samples and mold change logs
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
- Diploma in Purchasing or a related field of study
- Pursuit of Professional Purchasing or Supply Chain certification or designation is an asset
- 3 years of experience in buying or purchasing role
- Knowledge or experience in an ISO environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is an asset
- Computer literate with:
- Basic to intermediate experience in an ERP system
- Basic to intermediate experience in MS Word
- Basic to intermediate experience in MS Excel
- Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
Our salary ranges are determined by job and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual compensation is determined by job-related skills and knowledge, relevant experience including professional and lived experience, and/or work location.
