Buyer

As a member of the Strategic Sourcing Team, you will purchase raw materials, components, products, and services as required for TMI and affiliated companies in a cost effective and efficient manner. Assist with contractual negotiations and agreements with suppliers.

Responsibilities Include:

Contract Negotiation, Establishment, and Implementation

  • Ensure products and materials are sourced at the best value while utilizing best practices

Purchase Order

  • Ensure that all purchase orders are processed efficiently and effectively
  • Manage all aspects of mold approval and progress all activities according to schedule
  • Ensure conformance to all pertinent documentation and procedures
  • Ensure all purchase orders are coded properly.

Liaison with Suppliers

  • Communicate with suppliers on all business and technical matters
  • Ensure systems of supplier communication are in place and functioning
  • Assist in supplier performance measurement systems and feedback
  • Ensure that supplier and part files are maintained with accurate and appropriate information

Purchasing Administration

  • Ensure that any cost reduction opportunities that are justified are implemented
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of variance analysis for component costs when appropriate
  • Ensure purchasing procedures are effective, efficient, and documented.
  • Maintain approved supplier file in enterprise resource planning (ERP) database
  • Maintain job related standard operating procedures and ERP Scripts
  • Maintain relevant databases such as: asset, samples and mold change logs

Health and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Purchasing or a related field of study
  • Pursuit of Professional Purchasing or Supply Chain certification or designation is an asset
  • 3 years of experience in buying or purchasing role
  • Knowledge or experience in an ISO environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is an asset
  • Computer literate with:
  • Basic to intermediate experience in an ERP system
  • Basic to intermediate experience in MS Word
  • Basic to intermediate experience in MS Excel
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
