ROLE: Production and Material Planner

REPORTS TO: Planning Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain detailed production schedules, to ensure that customer orders are filled on time and in the correct quantities. The position also serves as a communication hub between Production, Demand/Supply planning, Sales, Logistics, Purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Ensure raw materials and packaging components are available to support the Production Schedule, work collaboratively with Production and Quality to ensure raw materials and/or packaging meets expectations
  • Assist Planning Manager in determining Customer Order priorities for production and delivery
  • Act as lead for inhouse variable data label printing as needed for daily production, working closely with the Quality team.
  • Support new product listings and first production runs, coordinate with Sales and Marketing on provincial New Product Listings, coordinate new Item Master set up in ERP with Inventory Manager and COGS Analyst
  • Constantly review and analyze production variance reports to ensure production plans are in place to meet both customer and deliverables and minimize material obsolescence and write offs
  • Monitor production output and track against monthly, quarterly, and annual business goals
  • Use Production Schedule to forecast raw material needs, balancing inventory with schedule requirements, sequence and arrange orders in master schedule to maximize efficiency and minimize changeovers.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager to determine shift capacity requirements by maintaining an up to date schedule and up to date model for output and to ensure capacity matches schedule requirements while minimizing labour variances.
  • Monitor raw-material levels, inventory levels and understand re-order points
  • Create Purchase Requisitions and ensure that orders are placed and fulfilled in an effective and timely manner as per material requirements identified by ERP system. Monitor status of material orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery dates.
  • Develop and perform variance analysis and periodic reports/analysis as needed
  • Based on the analysis of the Production Schedule, Coordinates with Production, the Buyer and Inventory team to improve the flow of incoming materials in support of the plant
  • Proactively identifies and communicates potential supply chain disruptions and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supports in reconciling inventory discrepancies, as needed by the Inventory Team.
  • Support Logistics team on expediting urgent material requirements
  • Helps develop action plans and manage specific materials projects to improve key metrics.
  • Assist with managing list of raw materials and packaging specifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to direct the work of others while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience in CPG manufacturing environment, packaging expertise considered an asset
  • 3 – 5 years experience in planning or similar role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Punctual, reliable and responsible
