The Production Manager is responsible for the leadership of the production facility to ensure that the manufacturing process is completed as required, in compliance with safety, quality, and production standards. The Production Manager will Lead, Inspire, Build, and Motivate a high-performance team that delivers on our higher purpose – ‘Enriching the lives of our partners’ and influence behavior to create a culture of excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with higher purpose, values alignment, focus, simplicity, and clarity.
  • Manage daily operations on the production floor, ensuring efficient, and effective manufacturing processes.
  • Work with your team to ensure production schedules and targets are met within the specified time frame and budget.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and efficiency where applicable.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering, quality control, and other departments to ensure smooth production workflows.
  • Assist in managing the production budget, monitoring expenses, and seeking cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Work with your team to promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among the production staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining delivery commitments and improving product and process non-conformances.
  • Maintains a regular presence on the production floor and works to maintain high levels of communication with Production Leaders and employees. Will split time approximately 50/50 between shop floor and office.
  • Practice active problem-solving strategies to effectively address issues as they arise.
  • Work with your team to ensure that all safety policies are followed and remain relevant as the company grows and changes.
  • Work with your team to allocate resources effectively, including workforce, equipment, and materials, to optimize production output.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, and efficiency, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Along with our Training and Quality Coordinator the Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of employee training to support the business.
  • Maintains a high level of communication with the project managers, builder services team and engineering / drafting team, giving regular updates on capacity levels and/or constraints.
  • Overseeing the administration of the Steelway Employee Association agreement and ensure that employees questions and concerns are answered promptly.
  • Interact with all Production employees while reporting to the VP of Product Fulfillment. Production Leaders, the Manufacturing Scheduler, and Training and Quality Coordinator will report directly to the Production Manager.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Ideally 10+ years industrial manufacturing experience, with 5+ years of suitable direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Must have a high level of heavy custom steel fabrication knowledge.
  • Demonstrated performance as high-energy team player, with ability to lead people and administer results.
  • Post secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to use team-building principles to constantly improve output and profitability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to multi-task, assist and coach others where required.
  • Excellent communication skills and teambuilding abilities
  • Ability to work within a high-performance culture.
