Supervisor, Facilities

 

The Facilities Supervisor will direct the day to day activities of facility staff and prioritize incoming service requests with ongoing projects. They will ensure compliance with company policies and standards and current legislation and will supervise, train, and coach members of the facilities department.

Job Duties

  • Direct the day to day activities of facility staff, prioritize incoming service requests with ongoing projects
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time completion
  • Supervise, train, and coach members of the facilities department
  • Participate in hiring of new facilities employees, conduct annual performance review and address any issues through coaching and progressive discipline in adherence to company policy
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance, including Dayforce payroll/timesheets
  • Oversee project management to ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables
  • Manage and monitor project resources
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records that are in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Provide estimates for projects. Propose changes or modifications to plans to enhance operation and efficiency of systems
  • Plans and coordinates the implementation of designed facilities in accordance with approved agreements
  • Manage relationship with contractors and follow approval procedure to schedule as needed
  • Oversee projects and maintenance of facility to ensure compliance with design, project specifications, regulations, and safety codes
  • Complete building inspections periodically
  • Take an active role in the training of new and existing employees
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
  • Other assigned work as required
  • Ability to be hands on
  • To respond to all calls 24/7 when needed

Job Requirements

  • Trade Certification, Licensed Electrician or Millwright preferred
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Automation & PLC competence an asset
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to hazards associated with the Trade
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
  • Extended periods of standing or sitting
  • Regular exposure to Greenhouse environment including heat and humidity
  • Travel to all Company sites may be required
  • Personal Safety equipment will be required
  • Flexible hours; on call as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
  • May be exposed to construction sites
