Controls and Robotics Technician

Role Summary

The Controls / Robotics Technician contributes to the program launch team by ensuring new assembly equipment is designed and built to Presstran Standards.  In this role, the individual will also be responsible to re-write the electrical, controls & robotics build standards for Presstran Industries.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Completion of post-secondary education, and eligible for registration as a C.E.T., with three years of electrical experience.

• Experience with various PLC and Industrial controls systems. Familiar with PLC programming and implementation (Allen-Bradley).

• Experience with safety circuit design, program startup, verification and trouble shooting.

• Create and modify electrical and fluid schematics.

• HMI development and implementation (RsView, Panelview).

• Microsoft Operating system setup and maintenance.

• AutoCAD, Office applications.

• Minimum two years experience with robots and electronic control systems in a robotic welding process, preferably in an industrial setting is required.

• Advanced robot automation programming and troubleshooting skills are required.

• Robot and Machine Automation experience.

• Works directly with the MES to validate programming as well as functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Vision programming projects.
• Design reviews with integrators evaluating tooling, spill detect, sensors, overall equipment reliability and maintainability.
• Training Maintenance on new launches.
• Computer programming, AutoCAD, Office applications.
• Good understanding of Siemens controllers and Bosch Weld Controllers.
• Update the Presstran Electrical / hydraulics /pneumatics/ Controls & Robotics Build Standard.
• Technical research on selecting the right automation products for new applications and improvements to existing equipment.
• Establishes, evaluates, collaborates and maintains the Controls, Robotic and IoT interface standards for hardware, software and programming structure.
• Ensures compliance with IoT (I4.0) standards and requirements
• Plant / Engineering support in troubleshooting/repairs and systems improvements (optimization).
• Communicate to piers and suppliers in a concise manner.
• Lead ALL New Program Controls Activities.
