Sandblaster

We are a growing heavy equipment engineering and industrial manufacturing company located in St. Thomas, Ontario. We have an immediate requirement for a Sandblaster that will be dedicated to working with highly skilled team to execute the manufacture and assembly of new-to-market rail and mining vehicles.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain sandblast equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist in yard maintenance and clean up
• Operate and maintain sandblasting and coating equipment to job specifications associated with sanding, substrate surface preparation, and abrasive blasting
• Remove adhering scale, rust, dirt, and paint as required
• Properly protect and mask sandblasting and coating work areas
• General labour activities as required such as, but not limited to, hauling of material, tools, equipment, etc.)
• Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with ARVA’s safe work practices, policies, and procedures
• Ability to identify hazards
• Report all incidents, near misses and equipment damage to site supervision
• Perform material handling as needed - (Lift truck, reach truck, overhead crane)
• Assist with other duties as required

Qualifications:

· Previous experience with Sandblasting is an asset

· Previous experience with metal fabrication is an asset

. Previous experience operating a lift truck is an asset

· Ability to stand for 8 hours, with repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting (up to 50lbs)

· Prospective candidates must have excellent work habits and a commitment to procedures and accuracy

Wages:

· Will be determined based on education and experience but generally range from $17-$20/hour to start.

Hours:

· Normal hours are from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the ability to work overtime as required periodically. Avra runs a 4 x 10 hour shift operation during the summer months, Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with Fridays off.

Note:

· Prospective candidates must possess a valid driver’s licence and have access to reliable transportation

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
