Manager R&D and Process Engineering (Hybrid)

About the Role:

Are you a seasoned leader with a strong background in R&D and process engineering? Join our team to spearhead innovation, develop complex water treatment solutions, and provide guidance to a diverse team of engineers. This role offers the chance to drive projects, collaborate with customers, and foster open innovation networks.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership, Organizational, and Talent Development (35%):

• Lead, develop, and mentor an R&D and Process Engineering team, focusing on growth, coaching, and succession planning.
• Implement standardized work practices that align with customer-focused product development.
• Invest in team development, utilizing growth initiatives and organizational talent assessment.

R&D and Process Engineering Excellence (40%):

• Manage P&L responsibilities, including project budgets, product cost improvements, revenue goals, and R&D metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product costs for new/existing products.
• Engage with customers to identify cost-effective production methods, improved equipment maintenance, and compliance with upcoming regulations.
• Establish external partnerships to drive open innovation, sharing insights.

Product Development (25%):

• Develop and review technical product specifications to ensure performance, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements are met.
• Lead product cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct research activities to contribute significantly to product development.
• Generate reports on inventions and collaborate with legal teams to secure intellectual property.
• Support field service engineers during product start-up, commissioning, and emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 7+ years' engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
• Process engineering and design of fluid treatment processes and systems, water treatment preferred
• Familiarity with American and European engineering standards and regulations (ASME, UL, CSA/CRN, CE, PED, ISO/EN/DIN).
• Experience in R&D or product development
