The Opportunity
Maple Leaf Foods is embarking on one of the most exciting journeys in its history through the build and startup of a world-class, leading edge manufacturing facility producing premium, value added fresh poultry products. The new 640,000 square foot facility will call London, ON home and will employ over 1,600 employees as we ramp up operations over the next few years.We are looking for equally enthusiastic people who want to join our team as we start to climb our own version of Everest. A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
The Sustainability and Security Manager reports directly to the Engineering and Automation Leader and will lead sustainability, security and environmental programs at the facility. You will track the consumption of energy and help identify and execute savings opportunities that align with our culture of sustainability and continuous improvement while also overseeing matters of plant security and environmental compliance.- Consistent with our leadership values, act as a champion for our culture by participating in the development and execution of a positive and productive environment focused on the needs of our people.
- Develop, implement, and manage sustainability and environmental programs for the plant in accordance with the corporate program.
- Develop, implement, and manage site security programs in accordance with the corporate program including overseeing 3rd party contracted guards, security audits and investigations.
- Develop and manage a database of utility consumption throughout the facility, including data from submeters. Analyze consumption as it relates to production data and provide regular reporting on KPIs.
- Investigate continuous improvement opportunities to increase utility efficiency and reduce waste
- Complete all environmental compliance recording and reporting to meet regulatory requirements
- Monitoring performance of wastewater pretreatment system, odour and noise control systems. Support Maintenance and Powerhouse teams to correct any deficiencies.
- Lead recycling programs and waste reduction initiatives within the facility.
- Work cross functionally with the plant and corporate teams.

What you will bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Environmental studies or engineering or working experience equivalent
- 3-5 Years progressive role in a leadership position
- Certified Energy Manager CEM designation, or successfully completes the CEM examination by the end of first year
