Position: P55 Design Services Staff Checker

 

Key Job Elements:

  • Perform as integral member of Engineering Design Services checking and standards group
  • Verify completeness, consistency and quality of new and updated design package submittals
  • Lead in the definition and collection of quality metrics and identify improvement areas of focus
  • Work with the Checking, Liaison and Librarian (CLL) team to identify and implement departmental processes, standards and related documentation
  • Mentor CAD Designers and Engineers with engineering drawing standards and the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Perform design calculations and trade-off studies as required
  • Use your experience with creating solid models, layouts and associative assembly and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from senior designers or Project Engineers to stringent industry, company and military standards to perform checking role
  • Use your experience with the design of mobile defense systems utilizing NX CAD software integrated to the Teamcenter database to ensure depth of understanding of TDP and provide instruction to Engineering team members regarding good practices
  • Participate in Bid and Proposal activities by determining scope of work and preparing labour estimates, preparation of Basis of Estimates (BOE)
  • Participate in statusing and planning activities while monitoring project cost and schedule performance for various contracts

 

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma in Electrical or Mechanical field
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience modelling and drafting using NX CAD software
  • Strong knowledge of the application and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) from piece parts to complex assemblies as well as extensive knowledge of military drawing practices including MIL-STD-100 and the ASME Y14 series of standards
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to communicate fairly complex information Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years mechanical design utilizing CAD tools in a related industry
  • Knowledge of military drawing practices including MIL-STD-100 and related ASME Y14 series standards
  • OACETT certified Mechanical Technologist or Technician (CET) with specialty in mobile equipment
