The Production Leader provides strategic direction to support business strategy, including maintaining the productivity and quality of products produced by the production department. This role works closely with all employees to build and influence behaviour to create a culture of excellence.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

  • Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with our higher purpose, values alignment and our employee centered culture.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to production employees, to ensure that their duties are carried out safely, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Coach and motivate employees by providing consistent and ongoing communication.
  • Supervise and ensure training of employees in production requirements, procedures, safety, quality, and the operation of production equipment.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance while collaborating with the project managers, builder services, engineering/drafting, and other production leaders to ensure that Steelway’s customers are satisfied.
  • Responsible for the shift schedule: work assignments, thinking strategically to optimize labour efficiencies through effective task assignments, managing employee vacations, breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees.
  • Assisting in the development of new products and methods, and the refinement of existing products and methods.
  • Communicate effectively with other production leaders and other departments regarding the process and other significant events to other shifts both verbally and through shift reports.
  • Complete shift paperwork; payroll authorization and assignment, and all other shift administrative duties accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure all employees work in a safe and healthy environment, demonstrating consistent safe work practices, adhering, and enforcing all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Practice active problem-solving strategies to effectively address issues as they arise.
  • Administering the Steelway Employee Association agreement and ensure that employees questions and concerns are answered promptly.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  • A Production Leader must have minimum 5-7 years of leadership and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task, assist, and coach others where required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A leader through times of change
  • Excellent communication skills and team building abilities
  • Ability to work within a high-performance culture
  • Mechanical/Technical aptitude an asset
