Facilities/General Labourer
Description
Position Details: Temporary 6-month contract with possibility of full time
Complete a variety of general duties within the manufacturing shop to assist skilled tradespeople enabling them to focus on specialized tasks in a clean and safe environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fulfill all facilities service requests working with the Office Coordinator.
- Monitor fleet appearance and maintain cleanliness
- Inspect vehicles weekly, cleaning all vehicles monthly
- Track vehicle maintenance schedules and arrange oil changes/service as necessary
- Inspect shop daily; monitor shop cleanliness, identify potential safety hazards due to untidiness, advise supervisor and clean up accordingly
- Maintain compliance with health and safety procedures; inform management on unsafe practices
- Maintain garbage and recycling program and prepare for weekly disposal
- Inspect air handlers and clean filters every week
- Maintain entrances with snow removal as necessary
- Grounds maintenance
- Check water softener weekly
- Complete a variety of tasks including but not limited to painting, general facility maintenance, assisting with assembly of automated machines, using the forklift to move parts, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid G Driver’s License required
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health and safety and safe operation procedures
- Understanding of manufacturing environment
- Proper load securing for transport
- Lift heavy objects on a regular basis
- Follow instructions and work independently
- Safely operate various hand and power tools
- Forklift experience and license an asset – Training available
