Mechanical Systems Engineer - Intermediate
The Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical support
for aircraft development and certification programs as well as production
support when required. These activities may include: the development of
designs, drawings, certification plans, test plans & reports, design reviews,
analysis, and compliance reports related to aircraft systems such as flight
control systems, landing gear, anti-icing systems and occupant safety.
Responsibilities:
- Support the mechanical systems engineering specialist (Senior Engineer) in all matters, and mentor junior mechanical systems engineers as required
- Recommend changes to the aircraft design and/or manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, performance, and the overall customer experience
- Submit and/or review design change requests and assist in the classification of proposed type design changes utilizing the design change evaluation process
- Develop certification plans for design changes to Diamond’s Canadian type design aircraft
- Generate test plans, as necessary in order to demonstrate compliance related to proposed type design changes
- Coordinate and perform testing (ground and flight), analysis, and/or generate design reviews to substantiate compliance to the relevant aviation regulations (Part 23)
- Generate all necessary test and compliance reports to demonstrate that compliance to the relevant aviation regulations (Part 23) has been shown
- Seek certification of type design changes through coordination with TCCA, Delegates, or
- Diamond AP’s as necessary and assist in validations with foreign authorities
- Develop standards and specifications for relevant engineering activities
- Participate in research and development activities as necessary
- Support Airworthiness activities such as service bulletins and investigations
- Perform other related duties including ongoing production support through the disposition of non-conformances and support of other engineering groups as assigned
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 8 years Engineering experience (min 5 years relevant Aerospace Engineering)
- Experience with composite materials and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of Part 23 certification regulations
- Experience with CATIA V5, AutoCAD / DraftSight, and Solid Edge
- Proficiency in MS Office products and collaboration tools
- Previous or current delegation experience with a civil aviation authority is an asset
- Previous MRB authority is considered an asset
- Professional Engineering License is also an asset
- Excellent time management skills
- Capable of independent decision making
- Works well within a team environment
- Able to prioritize tasks based on company needs
