Amsted Automotive Group – Means Transform Products is looking for a full-time Toolroom Area Leader (Supervisor) that will be responsible to co-ordinate and oversee toolroom team activities, ensure team focus and “urgency” with respect to meeting deadlines and goals.  

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE 
We are looking for a full time Toolroom Area Leader (Supervisor) that will be responsible to hold all Toolroom team members accountable for performance to handbook / trade / training standards, and responsibilities defined in job documents (job descriptions, operator instructions, etc).

WHAT YOU'LL DO 
  • Responsible to maintain, develop, and report on G&O measurable as they relate to area of responsibility
  • Create press schedules required to ensure a smooth flow of support to production areas
  • Responsible to oversee press shop and maintenance operations through various activities, including but not limited to,  co-ordination of maintenance scheduling (set ups, installations, repairs, upgrades, and general maintaining of all plant / building equipment, machinery, and grounds)
  • Responsible to maintain and ensure effectiveness of Tool Stocking Area and requirements including requisitioning and purchase follow up with Purchasing Assistant
  • Responsible to create or participate in the creation of systems / documentation requirements to ensure compliance to ISO/TS16949, ISO14001, and Q1 
  • Prepare and conduct formal appraisal reviews with each team member based on established schedules
  • Provide opportunities for learning / recognition and celebration of successes with respect to team or individual 
  • Development of team members to resolve own concerns
  • Resolution or elevation of issues / problems for resolution where resolution can not be achieved at team member level
  • Conduct team meetings and provide feedback / communication / information sharing that is important or required for optimal team member performance and development 
  • Complete work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards, and all applicable Regulations / Legislation
  • Participate in company programs as required or requested including but not limited to 5S, Elimination of Waste, communication meetings, training, etc.
  • Create, update and maintain a training matrix for all TFA – London team member training
  • Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals
  • Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort
  • Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement
  • Adherence to all rules and regulations as may be amended from time to time
  • Participate in the company’s health, safety, environmental, and operational programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, or his/her designate.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Tool and Die Maker certificate of apprenticeship, Bachelors Degree in Engineering or College Engineering Technologist Diploma
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years experience managing projects in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Must possess knowledge of tool and die design, tryout and production, stamping presses and related machinery
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office application
  • Multi-tasking, fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time managements skills
  • Ability to achieve results / targets through others who are not direct reports
  • Ability to adapt and maintain performance in changing work environment
  • Effective interpersonal / communication skills required
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict, foster good team and inter-department relations

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stooping
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Flex shift hours may be required to support role responsibilities over 3 shift operation
  • Work environment office and shop floor
  • Usage of a computer and other office machinery
  • Wear personal protective equipment as prescribed
