Givens Engineering produces cranes, manipulators and end effectors for industry in Canada, the US and soon, in Europe. Our US subsidiary, Givens Lifting Systems and our newly-formed German subsidiary, Givens Hebesysteme, sell and fabricate equipment that is mainly pneumatically controlled.

Summary

Givens Engineering is looking for a mechanical technologist (or equivalent) to assemble custom machines and become an expert in pneumatics. We would train you in pneumatics and machine assembly to a point where you could create air logic drawings and dress complex pneumatic equipment.

Travel is a necessary part of the work, to anywhere in Canada, the US or Europe. It is possible that you would have to be ready to travel with just a few day’s notice, in case we had pneumatic difficulties with a machine. In Southern Ontario, you would often travel with just a few hours notice to solve a local problem. You would become the pneumatics trainer of other mechanical staff in all of our 3 locations. You would maintain our pneumatics manual and create new air diagrams in CAD as well.

At the same time, you would become proficient at assembling lifting equipment, including light cranes, manipulators, grippers, rotators, etc.

Qualifications:

• mechanical technologist or technician diploma (or equivalent)
• extreme mechanical aptitude
• mechanical experience
• good computer skills, especially with AutoCAD/DraftSight
• the willingness to travel
• the ability to solve problems in unfamiliar situations

This is a full-time, permanent, hourly role. Overtime occurs on an as needed basis, especially where travel out of province is required.
