Role Overview:

The Material Handler at PIFL will be a crucial part of our logistics and operations team, responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, and transportation of materials and products within our facilities. This position requires expertise in operating forklifts, a strong understanding of TDG regulations, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, timely delivery, and adherence to safety protocols.

Your First 90 Days:First 30 Days: Orientation and Integration

Immerse yourself in the PIFL culture, products, and safety protocols. Participate in comprehensive training sessions on forklift operation, TDG regulations, and warehouse management systems. Start managing basic material handling tasks under the supervision of experienced colleagues.

Next 30 Days: Strategy and Engagement

Take on increased responsibility by independently managing material handling tasks. Develop an understanding of our inventory management system and contribute to the efficient organization of the warehouse. Begin identifying areas for improvement in material handling processes.

Following 30 Days: Independence and Growth

Gain full responsibility for managing material handling operations within your purview. Demonstrate proficiency in forklift operation, compliance with TDG regulations, and adherence to safety standards. Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support our logistics strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Handling: Safely and efficiently handle, move, and store materials and products within the warehouse, ensuring proper placement and organization.
  • Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG): Ensure compliance with TDG regulations in the handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting regular stock checks, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participation in safety training sessions.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload materials and products from trucks, ensuring proper documentation and inspection for damage or discrepancies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including production, shipping, and receiving, to ensure seamless operations and timely delivery.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit reports on material handling activities, inventory levels, and safety incidents to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving material handling processes and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, following established procedures and protocols.

Requisites:

  • Forklift Certification: Valid forklift operator certification with demonstrated experience in safe and efficient operation.
  • TDG Certification: Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) with a strong understanding of regulations and best practices.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a material handling or logistics role, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, particularly in the areas of safety, inventory management, and documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across different departments.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly and effectively address operational challenges and implement solutions.
  • Commitment to Safety: A strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.
