Human Resources Generalist

This is an in-person position located in Strathroy, ON.
Join our HR team of 8 in developing positive employee relations, solving performance problems, event planning, recruiting, supporting health and Safety initiatives, supporting the benefit plan for all employees, and weekly reporting!
Education and Personal Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years in HR positions in manufacturing, ideally automotive.
- Experience in multiple assets of HR including Health and Safety, Recruitment, Benefits Management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or similar, CHRP/ CHRL preferred.
- Initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job.
- Decision-making is focused on implementing practical, timely solutions.
- Self-assurance and the confidence to purposely drive toward results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others is essential.
- The emphasis on building rapport and relationships with individuals and groups requires an outgoing, poised and persuasive communication style to foster positive employee relation
- The ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions is critical for the fast-paced environment.
Major Responsibilities of Position
Employee Relations – develop and maintain effective relationships with the workforce by listening to their issues and finding resolutions. Build effective relationships with internal clients to understand their business goals to proactively identify and implement solutions in line with their strategy. Act as an advisor to leaders of all levels. Assists the Superintendents in investigations, disciplines and all required activities when an employee leaves Meridian.
Reporting – prepare weekly HR reports, extract and manipulate data into useable, presentable reports for HR Manager.
Recruiting – assist in recruiting and interviewing process, post notices and advertisements, collect and screen applications, conduct interviews with hiring manager or supervisor, follow up with candidates, maintain applicant tracking system, prepare job offers, and arrange orientation. Assist and attend career fairs and recruiting events as required.
Training & Development – assist with in-house training for employees, compile training material, maintain training records in Mindflash, run regular reports to ensure training does not expire, and assist in ensuring training is completed on time. Conduct soft-skills and HR developed training as required.
Employee Benefits and Payroll – support annual review of entire benefits plan, including financials. Support changes or modifications to existing policies.
New Hires/Health and Safety– organize new hire orientation and employee on-boarding, Plex inputs, uniforms, safety boot voucher invoices.
Policies – participate in the development and administration of effective and efficient human resources policies and practices designed to meet employee needs and legislative demands. Study existing and new legislation to ensure compliance. Work to continuously improve and update HR policies and processes.
Manpower: support manpower weekly meeting with Supervisors.
- Other responsibilities as required, including special projects as they arise.
