ROLE: Material Planner
The Material Planner is responsible for analyzing on-hand inventory relative to production timelines, managing safety stock, and triggering purchases of packaging materials and ingredients to meet production requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Planning, Scheduling, and Inventory teams to ensure materials are available when required while respecting budgets and minimizing waste. This role is ideal for a highly organized and analytical individual who can collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
REPORTS TO: Director of Supply Chain
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure raw materials and packaging components are available to support the Production Schedule, by working collaboratively with Planning, Scheduling and Inventory teams
- Monitor raw-material levels, inventory levels and understand re-order points
- Create Purchase Requisitions and ensure that orders are placed and fulfilled in an effective and timely manner as per material requirements identified by ERP system.
- Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolutions, and communication with vendors
- Develop and perform variance analysis and periodic reports/analysis as needed
- Proactively identifies and communicates potential supply chain disruptions and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support Logistics team with scheduling inbound deliveries and expediting urgent material requirements
- Helps develop action plans and manage specific materials projects to improve key metrics.
- Assist with managing list of raw materials and packaging specifications
- Support Buyer with Setup and maintenance of material planning parameters (MOQ, lead time, safety stocks)
- Perform cycle count of materials as required and work with inventory team to investigate variances
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience within an inventory management or procurement role.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills necessary.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-Starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
