Specialist/Engineer - Lead Software QA and Tester

Position Description:

  • Develop test plans and test procedures
  • Ensure traceability of test procedures to software requirements
  • Evaluate and test software applications for use on GDLS-C products
  • Develop unit tests for a variety of applications from embedded to web
  • Write scripts to automate test sequences
  • Document test defects in an issue-reporting system
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, and engineering in a team environment
  • Manage metrics and reporting to identify defects and test coverage
  • Develop reports and present to customers (internal and external) as required
  • Provide input into tools and test environments for next generation products
  • Support continuous improvement and integration activities
  • Lead junior employees in areas of software QA and testing

 

Position Requirements:

Position Requirements:

  • University degree/college diploma in related field OR Non-Technical Degree or Diploma plus 5+ years in a related technical role
  • 5 years as a software QA / tester
  • Development experience in any of the below areas:
  • .NET (C#, Prism, WPF), C/C++, Database (SQL), Python
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts (SQL)
  • Experience with various Windows versions (Windows 7, Windows 7 Embedded, Windows 10)
  • Experience using various Linux distributions (CentOS, RedHat, Debian, Embedded)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
  • Experience using DOORS or other documentation and requirements repositories
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Experience working with teams and/or customers
  • Extensive experience with software version control systems (GIT)
  • Experience following Agile development methodology
  • Ability to Travel (5% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess and maintain a valid passport

 

Preferred Requirements:           

  • Extensive testing experience with any of the above tools and: Web (HTML5, JavaScript, Vue, REST)
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience evaluating and choosing test automation tooling
  • Experience developing Continuous Integration workflows
  • Web service testing for RESTful API
  • Extensive experience with databases (SQL, InfluxDB, Postgres)
  • Knowledge of variety of software testing methodologies (Acceptance, Code Coverage Analysis, Performance, Regression)
  • Experience with Behaviour and Test Driven Development
  • Experience using SysML & UML
  • DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible)
  • Experience working with construction or agricultural equipment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 11989, Bosch CAN2.0B, SAEJ1939 and similar standards
  • Ability to obtain and hold a valid Secret level security clearance
  • 2-5 years experience as lead SW test engineer
