JOB TITLE: Licensed Millwright

DIVISION: Maintenance

STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

DATE: 10/2022

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY: None

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the support and maintenance of the facility and equipment necessary to support production.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled repairs of facility and production equipment before, during and/or after production.
  • Communicate and coordinate with plant supervisors and managers to ensure overall plant schedules area achieved.
  • Be a self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule and give proper notice to supervisors.
  • Ensure quick response to equipment related safety concerns.
  • Maintain the facility and machinery to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Schedule required maintenance personnel for on-call duty, where applicable.
  • Perform mechanic skills which include, but are not limited to, mechanical, low voltage, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Observe all safety rules and policies and comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, give guidance and support the decisions made by management.
  • Regularly maintain a clean work area and shop.
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Display a positive attitude when dealing with fellow employees, help to promote company policies and procedures and function well in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Licensed by the Ministry of Skills and Development (433A) Millwright
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical and low voltage schematics.
  • Able to use multi-meters and power tools.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery an asset.
  • Experience with LO/TO.
  • Have strong analytical problems solving skills.
  • Have basic working knowledge of computer and PLC based machinery and systems.
  • Have basic working knowledge of the spark suppression systems and fire control system.
  • Be mechanically inclined with ability to effectively resolve technical problems.
  • Able to trouble shoot motor controls.
  • Have basic knowledge of wiring (lighting, switches, etc.).
  • Have knowledge of manufacturing processes and theory in assigned area.
  • Preference given to candidate with a technical degree. Equivalent work experience will be considered with a minimum of one (3) year of work experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Have basic working knowledge of the dust collection systems and the components that make up that system.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Manufacturing environment which requires precaution, training and safety equipment (including safety glasses, ear plugs, closed toe shoes, gloves, etc.).
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts while performing job.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to move and handle product without damage to the product.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks while staying focused.
  • Must be able to stand for eight (8) hours or more per day, with bending and twisting.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers, to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must be able to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a full-time position, working hours will depend on the shift assigned. Mandatory overtime, including weekends, may be required depending on workload.

Salary: $35.00-$37.51 per hour
