Position Summary

The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining leading edge EHS programs and policies for all associates within the NA Field Operations team as well as the piloting/warehouse facility in Cortland, NY. Supporting our associates in sales, field service, and project operations will involve around 20% travel regularly between Canada and the United States. You must be able to travel internationally between countries in North America with a valid passport. This role requires you to work with the Management Team in driving a Safety Culture which engages associates, improves EHS performance and supports the overall strategy of the Global EHS organization. In this role, you will:

  • Provide EHS support to Field Service, Sales, and Project Engineering associates

  • Ensure compliance with all Trojan Technologies policies and procedures as well as all Federal, Provincial/State and local government EHS regulations.

  • Develop and execute action plans to continuously improve the maturity of the EHS program though the Danaher Maturity Assessment Tool

  • Be responsible for WSIB/Workers Comp claims management; partner with HR, site EHS specialists and other functional leaders

  • Conduct field and site audits/inspections to enforce adherence to federal, provincial/state, and county regulatory laws, and Danaher policies governing occupational safety and health compliance. Look to educate associates in unsafe acts or conditions, establish associate/manager relationships, and pro-actively solving potential safety issues.

 

Are you qualified? The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or other applicable fields

  • 5+ years of EHS experience

  • Working knowledge of either Ontario OHSA regulations or USA OSHA requirements (Federal and State)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with a variety of people at various technical and management levels

  • Professional designation (CRSP, CSP or CRST) is preferred
