Role Overview:
The Technical Service Representative at PIFL will perform on-site technical and administrative duties within a manufacturing environment at our customer accounts under the direction of senior staff or management. This position is responsible for providing technical support, managing chemical inventories, and ensuring the proper maintenance and performance of our products. Your expertise will help improve our customers' processes and ensure they receive the highest level of service and support.
Your First 90 Days:
First 30 Days: Orientation and Integration
Immerse yourself in the PIFL culture, products, and technical service procedures. Participate in comprehensive training sessions, shadow experienced colleagues, and begin to understand customer products and processes. Start managing basic technical tasks under guidance.
Next 30 Days: Strategy and Engagement
Take on increased responsibility by independently performing technical duties and managing chemical inventories. Engage with customer production and technical personnel to identify process improvement opportunities. Begin identifying areas for improvement in technical service delivery.
Following 30 Days: Independence and Growth
Gain full responsibility for managing technical service operations within your purview. Demonstrate strategic planning and problem-solving capabilities. Drive initiatives to enhance service performance and support our growth strategy.
Success Metrics for the First 90 Days and Beyond:

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site technical and administrative duties in a manufacturing environment.
- Acquire, record, and analyze process and usage data, and report results to customers and management.
- Order and record inventory of chemical products, ensuring optimal stock levels.
- Maintain tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, and coolant dispensers in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on fluid systems, including product additions, filter changes, and sump cleaning.
- Lead and conduct meetings with customers to review value propositions and best practices.
- Implement and follow safety protocols, perform pre-task plans, and conduct pre-operation inspections.
- Collect, analyze, test, interpret, and record machine samples, and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct bio-stick dip tests of all sumps and central systems, and complete corrective actions as needed.
- Inspect, monitor, and maintain coolant filters, washers, paint systems, and air handling systems.
- Add chemicals, including coolants, greases, oils, lubricants, cleaners, and biocides to fluid systems.
- Develop reports regarding project and process improvements, and present findings to customers and management.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards at customer sites.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in technical service and chemical management.
Work Environment:
- Work in an office environment and a manufacturing environment; may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and trip and slip hazards.
- Noise levels in the manufacturing environment can be loud.
- Ensure a safety mindset throughout designated areas of responsibility.
- Maintain the highest Environment Health and Safety standards while at the customer’s site.
Requisites:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, chemical manufacturing or equivalent experience. Knowledge of chemistry or science is essential.
- One to two years of related experience in manufacturing, with at least one year in chemical management services or metalworking processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
- Demonstrate basic mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, fractions, conversions, and proportions.
- Ability to analyze and produce data such as charts and graphs.
- Organized, with the ability to manage multiple demands, establish priorities, and respond to unanticipated situations.
- Proficient in Internet software, email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, project tracking, and ERP software.
