The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join General Dynamics as part of the Labour Relations team working within the Human Resources department.

Key Job Elements

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of Labour Relations, and Employee Relations, Employee Services, Environmental Health and Safety and Security
  • Advise and assist other departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies and programs pertaining to EH&S, Labour Relations, Employee Relations and Security
  • Develop/implement Labour Relations policies/procedures and negotiate collective agreements on behalf of the company as part of the core negotiating team
  • Engage and motivate people to deliver tangible safety initiatives while providing counseling and leadership regarding all phases of preparation and execution of services, programs, and projects in the areas of compliance, safety, environmental management systems, technical guidance and existing facilities
  • Direct the activities of the EHS team to ensure a safe environment that encourages employee engagement and supports people in owning safety
  • Maintain EHS management systems as well as initiate and lead programs and activities to improve EHS performance (Management Rep for environmental and health and safety ISO compliance)
  • Represent management and participate actively on various joint committees to maintain ongoing relations between management and employees
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and the collective bargaining agreement
  • Manage the Company's Industrial Security Program: safeguarding people, Company property, and protected information.
  • Liaison with Public Services and Procurement Canada International and Industrial Security Directorate (PSPC-IISD), Ontario Provincial Police, London Police Services, and other Government agencies as required regarding security related regulations.

 

Position Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • • University degree in a field related to personnel management, such as Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Commerce or Psychology
  • • Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
    • Several years of experience as a human resource professional is preferred
    • May be required to work evening and weekend hours as necessary
    • Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (20% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
    • Demonstrated competencies of: strategic /analytical thinking; relationship building skills; effective interactive communication and teamwork orientation; results driven
    • Must have the following technical competencies and skills: knowledge of applicable legislation; planning/organizing; project management; consulting skills; verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
