Facilities Management

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Management, the Millwright installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the Hospital.

Rate of Pay:                   $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour

In accordance with the Letter of Understanding between LHSC and UNIFOR Local 27, this role is entitled to a market rate adjustment of $7.00 per hour for all hours worked, and is in addition to your applicable starting rate.  The need for market rate adjustments will be reviewed on an annual basis and may be subject to change.

Status:                            Regular Full Time 

Initial Shift:                     *All shifts and placements subject to change according to the Collective Agreement

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate
  • Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) including an 8000 hour apprenticeship
  • Minimum 4 years recent, related job experience
  • Demonstrated proficient ability to perform precision welding for fabrication and repair needs; arc, mig and tig
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member liaising with all levels of the organization
  • interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact positively and effectively with patients, public and staff
  • Ability to prioritize, work effectively and adapt to change in a busy environment
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings and manuals
  • Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrated understanding and executes process to obtain and replace filters, including HEPA filters
  • Demonstrated ability to correctly troubleshoot, repair and provide preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficient ability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC?s Vision, Purpose and Values 
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
