The Logistics Manager is responsible for the leadership of the shipping / receiving department to ensure that the logistics process is completed as required, in compliance with safety, quality and logistics standards. The Logistics Manager will Lead, Inspire, Build and Motivate a high-performance team that delivers on our higher purpose – ‘Enriching the lives of our partners’ and influence behaviour to create a culture of excellence.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

  • Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with our higher purpose, values alignment and our employee centred culture.
  • Responsible for the direct leadership of the shipping / receiving department and the activities of the team; including all logistic processes and procedures.
  • Maintain competitive freight costs and associated surcharges reflective of the current market to ensure accurate information for project quotes.
  • Maintains a high level of communication with the project managers, builder services team, ExSteel customer service, and engineering / drafting team, giving regular updates on delivery commitments and/or constraints.
  • Maintain the highest quality of customer relationships, internal and external.
  • Coordinating projects through the shipping / receiving department utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Monitors and adjusts shipping / receiving capacities as required to provide best possible delivery times.
  • Ensure product received meets quality requirements and is received in accordance with company policies.
  • Responsible for fleet management of company shipping vehicles.
  • Monitor KPI’s and departmental objectives while implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Practice active problem-solving strategies to effectively address issues as they arise.
  • Maintains a regular presence in the shipping / receiving areas and works to maintain high levels of communication with Production Leaders and employees.
  • Ensures that all safety policies are followed and remain relevant as the company grows and changes.
  • Responsible for ensuring the highest level of employee training to support the business.
  • Recommends staffing levels for shipping / receiving activities, including recommendation for recruitment and selection.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Logistics or Transportation
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Transportation/Distribution/Operations/Warehouse Management
  • Demonstrated performance as high-energy team player, with ability to lead people and administer results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to use team-building principles to constantly improve output and profitability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance culture.
