The Opportunity

We are recruiting a quality-conscious, detail-oriented and electrically and mechanically inclined Electrical Engineer to grow with us at SLEEGERS. The successful candidate will join our Product Engineering Team to support engineering initiatives across our numerous product lines. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical/Mechanical product design
  • Electrical/Mechanical product validation and testing
    • Design of testing equipment and procedures
  • Design of mechatronic systems for manufacturing automation
  • Preparing complex engineering drawings and models using 2D and 3D computer-aided design software
    • Part drawings, assembly drawings, and electrical schematic drawings
  • Creating and managing stock codes and BOM’s
  • Preparing technical engineering documents for internal and external use
  • Assisting in other projects, as assigned, to support our process and product development efforts

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems/Controls Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering degree from an accredited engineering program; a diploma in an applicable manufacturing or engineering technology program
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Has a strong understanding of the basic principles of engineering design and industry best practices – passionate about engineering
  • Practical, hands-on experience in design and construction of mechatronic/electromechanical devices
    • Has some experience in programming electromechanical devices
  • Has strong technical knowledge of electronics, electromechanical devices, and automation technology
  • Has a strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrates an understanding of common manufacturing methods, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and more
  • Is proficient with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
  • Has experience with making engineering drawings, especially electrical schematics
  • Strong communicator with quality writing skills
  • Is highly proficient in the Microsoft Suite of programs, especially Excel and Word
