Summary of position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for assessing the effectiveness of plant operations and providing recommendations for improvement in accordance with Six Sigma/Lean principals. Working closely with operational leaders and the Manager, Continuous improvement & Quality, this role will identify ways to improve quality, efficiencies, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.

If you are a natural detail-oriented and collaborative leader who works together with management teams, utilizing lean principles to recommend changes leading to improvements in quality, lead-time, productivity & waste reduction then this position is for you.

Here are some the different activities you'll be asked to do:

  • Project leadership for new capital investments
  • Create, implement, & improve quality control plans
  • Define & implement, or review & revise standard operating procedures and processes related to all quality checkpoints
  • Audit on-site quality inspections
  • Weekly reporting of QC data analysis
  • Ensure quality targets are met while following standard work
  • Identify and eliminate quality related barriers to flow as necessary to ensure on-time delivery
  • Support behavioral change across the plant to build CI /Six Sigma culture including support functions, through coaching and influencing employees
  • Execute the CI roadmap
  • Support operational leadership in managing labor hours and costs within the project budget working with finance to establish project metrics to track success
  • Work with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles

If you are:

  • Process Engineer or Industrial Engineer, Lean Six Sigma certified

And you've got:

  • 5 years of continuous improvement experience
  • Experience in quality control environment
  • Experience in custom manufacturing preferred
  • Formal training or professional certification in lean fundamentals required
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience and/or Working Knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of the organization
