The Opportunity

We are recruiting an Order Picker for internal fabricated parts to join us at SLEEGERS. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and development of SLEEGERS by assisting with the assembly and moving materials to support production needs. Your core responsibilities will include: 

  • Responsible for working in kitting area and assembling various forms of steel parts and products into completed kits for production
  • Collate materials and place materials into containers, performing pre-assembly duties, which includes; cutting boxes, and opening and stocking of assembly lines and final assembly of materials on to skids or buckets
  • Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work
  • Pick and package a variety of printed materials or print related items that require a limited variety of packing procedures and techniques
  • Consolidate various items for shipment in accordance with standard operating instructions
  • Assemble finished products into boxes or containers for shipping
  • Count and sort various product items
  • Perform related tasks such as placing labels on packages and handling boxes for the final product
  • Ensure accurate shipping information is attached and packages are skipped according to the specified schedule
  • Loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or equipment with manual lifting up to 30lbs
  • Using a forklift and other industrial equipment, as needed

 

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Has at least one year of material handling experience, preferably in a production environment
  • Skill in reading specifications on engineered drawings (parent/child) and identifying the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders
  • Understanding of weld processes and asset
  • Excellent knowledge of routine and non-routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and basic warehouse procedures
  • Skill in using a limited variety of packing procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of shipping documents and the ability to identify shipping requirements and procedures for specific items using manual and automated processes.
  • Comfortable completing manual and computerized forms and shipping documents regarding stock description, units of issue, weight, quantity and labeling requirements outgoing materials and equipment
  • Requires basic arithmetic and standard formulas to determine size and volume of packing containers and materials an asset
  • Forklift experience an asset
  • Has excellent time management skills and can effectively prioritize and work under tight deadlines 
  • Understands the importance of our high degree of product quality and compliance to health and safety standards
