Area Leader - Systems

About the Role

The Systems Area Leader provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in solving day to day problems, utilizing the Magna Employee Charter while implementing the policies and procedures of the company.

Who we are looking for

Completion of post-secondary education in a related computer science program with a minimum of 4 years recent experience in a similar position OR a minimum of 6 years recent extensive hands-on experience in a similar position.

Your Responsibilities

•    Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations and Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.
•    Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.
•    Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
•    Maintain extremely high ethical standards regarding all sensitive data that you may be exposed to.
•    Lead, manage and coordinate day to day activities of the System Administrators. 
•    Provide direction, communication and support to System Administrators and the management team.
•    Be willing to support System Administrators with helpdesk requests.
•    Define/maintain/enforce SOX compliance and auditing standards and policies.
•    Monitor staff’s performance providing feedback, mentoring, coaching and performance reviews.
•    Make recommendations and be involved in an ongoing continuous improvement process, with participation on operational improvement teams.
•    Conduct workplace safety inspections.
•    Conduct safety talks and communicate safety bulletins.
•    Train Team Members on the specific job hazards.
•    Facilitate Accident and Incident Investigations.
•    Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
•    Ensure that Formet Business Plan, Key Performance Indicators and Development Goals and Objectives are met (People, Investor, Customer).
•    Develop and support Departmental leadership succession plans. 
•    Develop programs for, continuous improvement, build standards and job training.
•    Participate in the creation and implementation of clearly defined rules of conduct and communications. 
•    Provide training and work instructions in the areas of, but not limited to, Health & Safety, TS 16949, ISO 14001, job specific etc. 
•    Reinforce the Open Door process.
•    Participate in recruiting of personnel by conducting interviews as required. 
•    Provide timely feedback on issues or concerns raised by Team Members.
•    Ensure that job counseling and performance feedback is being appropriately provided. 
•    Ensure policies and procedures are created objectively and reviewed and approved as required. 
•    Perform other duties as designated.
