Night Shift Manufacturing Labourer & Saw Operator

 

Description

Complete a variety of general duties within the manufacturing shop to assist skilled tradespeople enabling them to focus on specialized tasks in a clean and safe working environment. Night Shift consists of working four ten-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday with opportunity for overtime.

HOURS OF WORK

  • 9pm – 7am

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor shop cleanliness, identify potential safety hazards due to untidiness, advise supervisor and clean up accordingly
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety procedures; inform management on unsafe practices
  • Maintain garbage and recycling program and prepare for weekly disposal
  • Prioritize and complete all tasks assigned by Manufacturing Manager in a timely manner
  • Complete a variety of tasks including but not limited to painting, general shop maintenance, assisting with assembly of automated machines, using the forklift to move parts, etc.
  • Receive parts through BOS receiving process and distribute where directed
  • At times, operate band saw and Blanchard grinder by cutting materials to the correct requirements and grinding plate steel to tolerance.
  • As needed, operate over head crane and forklift
  • At times, maintain equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance on saw equipment
  • Black oxide/coatings
  • Assist with deliveries of components and pick-ups of shop materials ordered
  • Follow outsourcing board, prioritized by Manager/Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Exposure to several trades (Millwright, Electrician, Machinist) and experience in all areas to identify skills and future apprenticeship opportunities

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid G Driver’s License required
  • OSSD or equivalent

  • Knowledge of health and safety and safe operation procedures
  • Understanding of manufacturing environment
