Job Description
Purchasing Manager/Leader
The Purchasing Manager plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the activities of the purchasing department and develops and implements the purchasing policies of the business. The role will establish relationships and serve as a representative of the company when negotiating contracts and building vendor and supplier trust as well as track and monitor the deliver and confirmation of all materials and supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, practices, and work instructions for purchasing, material planning, control, and flow, to support BOS’ goals including cost effective procurement and material management.
- Lead and manage all procurement and materials management activities including order placement, supplier follow-up, on-site inventory control, advanced shipping notices, price negotiation and compliance with government procurement regulations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations
- Ensure SCM productivity supports on time build kit delivery
- Provide superior communication to key internal partners of business-critical items including lead times, cost variances, quality issues and status of Build Kits assembly, directly and through timely relevant data reporting
- Plan and control purchasing department budget
- Partner with key customers including Engineering, Technical Managers, Applications and Finance to evaluate cost and quality of good and services; includes sourcing new and existing vendors, materials, vendor managed inventory
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, and materials
- In partnership with Manufacturing and Finance, oversee and coordinate inventory management; levels and accuracy
- Develop and manage vendor score cards for performance and reviews
- Design, plan and implement sourcing and purchasing strategies
- Deliver reporting that supports business and department initiatives

Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in SCM/Logistics
- Minimum 5 years in Purchase Management
- Minimum 10 years supply chain management experience
- Strong technical, leadership, written and verbal communication skills
- Background in Engineering is an asset
- Experience in Automotive Manufacturing is a key asset
