Facilities and Maintenance Planner
 

We are hiring a Facilities and Maintenance Planner in our St. Thomas, ON location!

 

The Facilities and Maintenance Planner assists both the Facilities and Maintenance departments in improving work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access.  These duties are to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner to support the reduction of downtime on equipment and minimize the disruption to production and the facility in general.

What You Will Do:

  • Plan, coordinate, organize and manage maintenance work, estimate maintenance activities, schedule labour, shutdowns, work orders, parts, backlog, equipment database, schedules and any other task needed to upgrade maintenance service level.
  • Develops work plans for maintenance with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assigning and execution of maintenance work.
  • Review equipment needs and schedule preventative maintenance work
  • Identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Follow departmental budgets to ensure good cost control.
  • Prepares process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Assist with scheduling of contractor maintenance
  • Analyze critical spares program and make recommendations
  • Full responsibility for spare part inventory
  • Perform facility inspections in accordance with plant compliance
  • Research and assist with contractor/vendor selections
  • Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to.
  • Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept and the supervisor.
  • Ensures work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards.
  • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately.

 

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an Ontario accredited university or college.  Technologist / Technician / Engineer Program or equivalent.College diploma in Industrial Mechanics, OR in Industrial Maintenance OR Manufacturing OR Design OR Bachelor’s degree in industrial/mechanical engineering, with relevant experience
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, mechanical (hydraulic, pneumatic), fabrication/welding
  • Experience and knowledge of a CMMS
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience gathering and accurately recording test data. Working knowledge of MS Word & MS Excel
  • Problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • High degree of initiative and motivation and willingness to work proactively, either independently or within a team
  • Priorities and time management ability
  • Strong analyzing and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information
