Branch Manager, Controls
London, Ontario
The Branch Manager is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for ensuring that operations within the branch are executed according to our business and growth strategy. This will be achieved through collaboration, influence and relationship building with employees and relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure flawless and consistent execution in the Convergix Automation way of service delivery.
At Convergix, we do not see Branches as boundaries within the company and believe it is every Leader’s duty to ensure they are viewed as an integral part of the one company entity.
What would a typical day be like?
- Manage branch operations.
- Lead and drive local business partner and client relations, plan and achieve branch targets, and function as the final resource for branch client matters.
- Manage a team to diligently execute customer projects (on time, on budget while delivering value to customers) and aligns with, supports, and contributes to Convergix’s corporate strategy and growth plans.
- Balance workload assignments to ensure targets are met and employees are engaged with proper work levels.
- Positively represent Convergix internally and externally by being committed to Convergix’s Vision, Values, and Processes.
- Participate in business planning and visioning – determine/promote corporate goals.
- Develop a branch business plan that aligns with, supports, and contributes to Convergix’s corporate goals.
- Provide direction to project teams within the branch.
- Monitor compliance with agreed deliverables.
- Ensure the quality of work is consistent and complies with required standards.
- Support the pre-sale effort by providing cost estimates and proposal development support to the Business Development team.
- Coordinate and partner with business development to seek business opportunities and strategic alliances.
- Develop client relationships in support of the company’s sales and target account plans.
- Support the post-sale effort by maintaining good client relations, high customer satisfaction, and assisting in the discovery of ongoing opportunities.
- Represent the branch in the community for promotion and to support business development activities (trade shows, open houses, career fairs, etc.).
- Sustain local business partner, industry, and client relationships.
- Respond to client inquiries or requests for quotations in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify recruiting opportunities and provide support for recruiting activities.
- Be actively involved in hiring decisions for the branch.
- Monitor employee health and safety compliance in the execution of all branch operations.
- Support, mentor and assist employees with their career growth and development by providing and delivering strong leadership for the branch and direction for all local technical operations.
- Align employee task assignments with career management plans to drive engagement and career progression.
- Drive timely Performance Management initiatives for all direct reports.
What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?
- Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized engineering faculty, or equivalent qualification, preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant technical leadership and/or project management role
- MUST have previous experience with controls systems design and implementation with specific focus on PLC & HMI programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA etc.)
- MUST have previous experience with motion control and robotics (ABB, Allen Bradley, Fanuc, UR, Kuka etc.)
- Strong leadership skills, ability to coach and mentor employees, drive team performance
- Ability to overcome multiple simultaneous challenges and manage complex situations
- Well-rounded skill set (interpersonal, people, business, technology, etc.)
- Industry, application, and technical knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding of local business climate
- Committed to achieve business plan goals and effectively communicate the company’s strategies
- Adaptive and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Delivers consistent feedback in a fair and positive manner to team members and leaders
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Branch Managers at Convergix should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
