Operations Manager
 

We are hiring an Operations Manager in our St. Thomas, ON location!

 

In this role, you will be supporting the Sr. Operations Manager by coordinating daily activities of the Bathing manufacturing teams. The Operations Manager of Bathing will ensure that all manufacturing personnel are meeting the safety, quality, delivery and cost targets for Masco Canada throughout the manufacturing process.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and advising personnel on safe work practices to meet Safety and 5S targets

  • Ensure the day-to-day execution of the Manufacturing Plan by directing and advising Supervisors toward completion of the production plan

  • Schedule and assign personnel to meet Schedule Attainment and Past Due Targets, running to priority list and customer demand

  • Complete daily review of performance metrics, manage overall performance of the team to meet the defined standards and address any production problems as they arise

  • Drive operational improvements in all aspects of Safety, Delivery, Quality and Cost through timely, collaborative problem-solving

  • Participate in or direct cross functional teams within the organization to implement process improvements or introduce new products.

  • Ensure compliance with established Masco Internal Control procedures and implement standards of behavior within the context of Masco Canada’s conduct guidelines

  • Advise, mentor and develop team members by providing timely feedback on safety, performance and quality

  • Use good judgement while making timely decisions, ensuring seamless production on a day-to-day basis

  • Participate in any labour related issues

  • Maintain a safe workplace

  • Wear Personal Protective equipment on the shop floor

  • Follow company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)

  • Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures

  • Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible

  • Ensure compliance with the Masco Canada Product Compliance Management System

  • Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept and the supervisor

  • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately

 

Who You Are:

  • 5-10 years of experience in various manufacturing related positions with growing responsibility

  • 3-5 years of experience in a management position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Excellent communication, both verbally and written and teambuilding skills

  • Self-starter and require little supervision

  • Proven leadership and consensus building skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Effective negotiating and influencing skills

  • Project and process management experience

  • Excellent analysis and decision-making ability

  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite; experience using JDE is an asset

  • Union Experience

  • Knowledge of Lean Concepts

  • Industrial Management Certificate or equivalent

  • University degree or college diploma in Engineering, Business Management, or Industrial Management is preferred

  • Direct (reporting directly to this position):  7

  • Indirect (supervised by people reporting directly to this position):  240
