The Opportunity

 

We are recruiting a Mechanical Product Designer / Engineer to join our engineering team to help support growth and development of the propane industry. In this role the successful candidate will provide design and engineering support, focused on products, and providing overall support to the team. The core responsibilities will include:

 

  • Mechanical product design, including creating and modifying 3D models, design, fabrication and part drawings
  • Creating and managing stock codes and BOM’s in MRP / ERP software 
  • Preparing engineering calculations and FEA simulations
  • Preparing comprehensive engineering reports
  • Participate in preparation and review of PFMEA, PPAP and DTR results of new products
  • Supporting production, quality and supply chain with the manufacturing of products
  • Supporting non-conformance handling and purchase order reviews
  • Aiding or leading the development and continuous improvement initiatives to support our products

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

  • Has a degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Has 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Has practical, hands-on experience in design and manufacturing of products
  • Is highly competent in 3D modelling with SolidWorks
  • Has strong technical knowledge of engineering mechanics
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of common manufacturing methods, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and more
  • Has strong practical design-for-manufacturability mindset
  • Enjoys working in a regulated industry with a variety of codes and standards
  • Is a self-starter, reliable, and takes initiative
  • Is detail-oriented in the preparation and review of technical drawings and written deliverables
  • Is a strong communicator with quality writing skills
  • Has advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
  • Is working towards their P.Eng (EIT) designation
