Payroll Specialist

JMP is currently looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. This role will be responsible administering the company’s payroll and expenses for our branches throughout North America. You will work closely with employees ensuring that timesheets and expenses are submitted regularly and on time, while performing other ad hoc accounting duties.

What Would a Typical Day Look Like?

• Administer the Company's Canadian and US payroll on a bi-weekly basis within the company’s multiple payroll systems
• Review, audit and process expense reports on a regular basis
• Manage payroll remittances (EHT, WSIB, state and local taxes)
• Reconciling payroll and posting related journal entries as part of month end close
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned

What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?

• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Post-secondary education in a related discipline
• Certified with the Canadian Payroll Association an asset
• Experience with US payroll an asset
• Knowledge of standard payroll systems
• Extremely detail oriented
• Passionate about a career in accounting
• A polished professional with a strong sense of urgency and professional attitude
• A superior communicator (both oral and written)
• Knowledgeable at an advanced level in MS Office
• Dedicated and highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a demanding environment
• Willing to go the extra mile
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to take charge and work with little supervision and guidance
• An ability to travel within US and Canada
