The Opportunity

 

We are recruiting a quality-conscious, detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Manufacturing Engineering Technologist to grow with us at SLEEGERS. The successful candidate will join our Product Engineering Team to support engineering initiatives across our numerous product lines. Your core responsibilities will include:

 

  • Mechanical product design, including creating and modifying 3D models, design, fabrication and part drawings
  • Assisting with engineering calculations and FEA simulations
  • Creating and managing stock codes and BOM’s in MRP / ERP software 
  • Preparing engineering documentation, including documentation which supports production or customers
    • Preparing and managing revisions of Routing Sheets and Visual Work Instructions
    • Creating and managing Product Manuals and Service Bulletins
  • Design of machines or mechanical systems for manufacturing processes while applying design-for-manufacturing, assembly and machining principles to deliver state-of-the-art, cost-effective solutions
  • Mechanical product and process validation and testing
    • Create engineering reports which describes test results
  • Preparing other technical engineering documents for internal and external use
  • Assisting in other projects, as assigned, to support our process and product development efforts

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

  • Has a diploma in an applicable mechanical, manufacturing, or other engineering technology program
  • Has 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Has practical, hands-on experience in design and construction of machines and other mechanical components
  • Has advanced experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Has strong technical knowledge of engineering mechanics and mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of common manufacturing methods, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and more
  • Understands how to optimize mechanical design to improve manufacturability
  • Has experience with making engineering drawings, especially mechanical part drawings, weldment drawings, and assembly drawings
  • Has experience with writing technical engineering documentation
  • Is a self-starter, reliable, and takes initiative
  • Is detail-oriented in the preparation and review of technical drawings and written deliverables
  • Is a strong communicator with quality writing skills
  • Has advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
