Sales Manager (Applications Engineering, Factory/Industrial Automation)
Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales Manager is responsible for the end to end sales cycle and the associated marketing processes to support the required objectives of the business. The Sales and Applications Engineering departments will report directly to the Sales Manager, who will improve the capabilities of the Team for the future. Applications Engineers are responsible for developing solutions and preparing quotations for customers to win business for BOS.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Sales and Applications Engineering Team management, CRM and activity tracking, strategy alignment, and skills development
- Lead the development of a sales and quoting strategy and process with your Team to achieve the company goals and strategy, including driving sales from new customers in targeted technologies, markets, and geographical regions, as well as nurturing existing customers to garner incremental revenue and strengthen relationships
- Develop systems of optimizations to improve quality, sales, and to reduce time and costs of quoting (e.g. standard quotations and solution sheets, modular system developments, analytical tools/models, and calculators)
- Develop and implement usable surveys for customer satisfaction with the sales experience at BOS for reporting to Manager and the President
- Develop and implement usable data collection and analytics to improve sales situational awareness and quoting accuracy for reporting to Manager and the President
- Develop and implement a process for quality lead generation and conversion, in line with overall sales strategy
- Lead competitive analysis process in new markets, technologies, or locations as required to execute sales strategy
- Lead the quote negotiation process in alignment with Manager and the President, paying regard to cash flow, margin, timing, risk analysis, and the strategic value of the customer and technology
- Own and develop the quotation process within the department, as well as interdepartmental responsibilities, communications, and cooperation
- Own and develop the sales process and the contract up until the point of handover to the project manager
- Participate at BOS in group alignment of sales strategy to technological innovations and company capabilities, including helping identify new target technologies for BOS
- Relay positive/negative project and company feedback uncovered during the sales process in real-time to the Team, Manager, and President
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in engineering, business, management, and/or related field of study/expertise
- Minimum 3+ years of experience working in the automation or integration industry, with a demonstrated understanding of automation concepts, quoting (cost estimation), and project management
- Minimum 1-2+ years of experience negotiating B2B contracts
- Knowledgeable of data and analytics and passionate about developing measurement systems and tools to improve self and Team performance
- A people leader with a blend of technical and commercial skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in customer relationship management
- Proficient with Office 365 suite, very strong with Excel
- Experience with PowerBI would be a bonus
- Prior experience managing and directing a sales team would be considered an asset
