Our London Plant is seeking a Production Manager.  You will be responsible for supervision and development of manufacturing supervisors and associates while successfully managing order prioritization and planning, data analysis and reporting, and most importantly driving continuous execution and improvement against Pactiv's KPIs - Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.  The position serves as an integral part of the manufacturing leadership team and works extensively with internal groups (quality, planning, materials management purchasing etc) as well as external Finance, Customer Service, Engineering and Senior Leadership functions.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Human Resource Director, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for planning, executing, directing and coordinating Human Resource functions at the plant level relating to employment, benefits (including group insurance and retirement plans), employee relations, employee health and safety, workers' compensation, wage and salary administration, and training.

 

Receives functional direction and guidance from Corporate Human Resources staff. Has dotted-line reporting relationship to Corporate Human Resources Director.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Complies with all EHS policies, procedures and safe work instructions in place.
  • Complies with SOX audit requirements.
  • Maintains, develops, and directs staff as appropriate to size of plant.
  • Carries out plant employment and placement functions including recruiting, screening and making recommendations for hire.
  • Participates in and ensures that effective orientation of new employees is conducted.
  • Assists Plant Manager to develop training programs, as well as maintaining processes for identifying and flagging training needs for employees..
  • Administers employee benefit plans such as retirement and group health and welfare benefit programs.
  • Assists the Health and Safety Coordinator in implementing the plant's safety program including required OSHA training; initiates changes as necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Ensures an effective plant attendance control program, advises and assists in the handling of employee performance and behavior problems, including effective discipline procedures.
  • Ensures that all records and reports are prepared as required, as well as all personnel records maintained in compliance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Compiles and maintains monthly personnel statistics related to turnover, absenteeism and safety, and reports to Corporate Human Resources as requested.
  • Advises supervisors and managers in the interpretation and proper applications of company policies.
  • Ensures the efficient reporting of pay data to payroll and to maintain a current reliable employee database.
  • Oversees and manages an effective employee communications program; recommends and initiates changes for improvements.
  • Liaising with Health and Safety Coordinator on the administration of workers' compensation insurance programs and ensuring maximum claims control.
  • Maintains an active status in outside professional personnel organization(s) and stays abreast of current local and state legislation, local labor market conditions, and other local and state issues related to employment and employee relations; advises Plant Manager and Corporate Human Resources Director of significant changes.
  • Serves as a resource for employees relative to personal or job related problems.
  • May conduct and/or supervise various H.R. activities such as credit union memberships, employee suggestion systems, and unemployment insurance reporting and control, etc.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • Required: Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field of study
  • Minimum of 3- 5 years HRIS or HR support role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze issues, determine appropriate solutions and resolve sensitive problems.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation; ability to provide service and remain focused even during emotionally charged circumstances.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to use independent judgement effectively
  • A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
  • Strong team player skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all levels of an organization.
